Ein Telefonat zwischen zwei Ländern und Generationen. Die Mutter zwingt ihre vielbeschäftigte Tochter zu einer Unterhaltung, die eskaliert, weil Tatsachen und Vorurteile fröhlich vermischt werden. Am Ende träumt die Mutter von weißen Weihnachten und die Tochter will ins Amazonas gebiet auswandern.

In 1991 the totalitarian communist regime in Albania falls, leaving its people exposed to the new world. Some succeeded in creating a new life, others not. Shpetim and Fatbardha were together. They decided to walk the distance between Albania and Greece to live their love. 25 years later, their son walks the same distance, this time from Greece to Albania.

I use manipulated footage from the final scene of “Paris, Texas” to construct a new narration using voices from “Sophie’s Choice”. One film deals with a forced separation and the other with a reunion. I juxtapose the two in order to debate human feelings.

Found Super 8 home movies of wildlife from 1960s apartheid era South Africa and colonial Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) comprise the visual elements of African Film School. In order to disrupt the viewer, American filmmaker Roger Horn juxtaposes these found images with audio he recorded while attending a wildlife film-training program in Cape Town in 2007.

A Japanese philosopher asks a famous German colleague to advise the Japanese people how to deal with the permeation of modern life by technology. More than 50 years later, the same issues are being discussed. In the grainy images of the film, landscapes from an uncertain time appear, occasionally flooded by water and a cacophony of brass players.

Since part of the Baltic fleet moved away most of Kronstadt is no longer a closed military city. The photographic process of colour separation used in the film emphasises the city’s current state between past and future. “Sea Factory” is the second film in a series of works inspired by the photography of Sergey Prokudin-Gorskii.
